Noah: ’Where are you going mum?‘
Me: ’Im off to Mumma School.’
Since my kids were very young, Ive been receiving mentoring by Aware Parenting and Steiner mentors. These are Mothers well ahead of me on their parenting journey and a refuge for wisdom, encouragement and tutelage. I call it Mumma School as it has been the place from which I have learnt Mothering tools and experienced childhood healing.
Now, my kids ask me ‘where are you going mum’, and I say, ‘Someone’s coming to me for Mumma school’.
My kids really understand that parents need to learn about parenting, its not a skill set that is magically given at the point of birthing. Some parents wish to parent in the way they were parented, and often don’t seek support from mentors. But for me and most others I encounter, there is a deep desire to parent in a fresh way, different to what was experienced in childhood.
This is why I’ve always gone to Mumma School and sought out mentors to teach and guide me. Now I am doing the same for others.
If you'd like some support on the parenting path, I'd love to hear from you.
Love, Felicity
